Privacy Policy for GeckoBreeding

GeckoBreeding is a record-keeping app for reptile breeders. This policy explains how the app handles animal records, photos and the optional AI morph-identification feature.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app can store animal names or IDs, species, sex, morph and genetics, dates, source or breeder details, cage or group, weight history, status, notes, photos, clutch and egg records, incubation information and parentage links. This information is stored locally in the app's private storage. GeckoBreeding has no user account, cloud sync, analytics, advertising or third-party tracking.
Your operating system may include local app data in a device backup according to your device and backup settings. GeckoBreeding does not operate a separate backup service.
Camera and Photo Library
Camera and photo-library access are used only when you choose to take or select an animal photo. Photos remain in the app's private local storage unless you actively use the optional AI feature described below.
Optional AI Morph Identification
If you choose Identify morph (AI), GeckoBreeding sends the selected animal photo, the recorded species and relevant parent/morph context to OpenRouter and the selected Google AI model provider to generate morph suggestions. The app also sends the OpenRouter API key that you entered as authorization for that request. This feature is optional and no such data is sent unless you invoke it.
Requests ask OpenRouter to use zero-data-retention routing. OpenRouter and the selected model provider may still process request metadata and may retain limited information when required for abuse prevention, security, billing or legal compliance. Their practices are governed by their own policies:
AI suggestions may be inaccurate and should always be verified against the animal.
API Key Security
Your OpenRouter API key is stored in Android Keystore or Apple Keychain secure storage and is not stored in the app's animal-record file. It is sent only to OpenRouter when you use the optional AI feature. You can remove it at any time in Settings.
Sharing and Sale of Data
We do not sell personal information or animal records. We do not use data for advertising or tracking. The only third-party transfer initiated by the app is the optional AI request described above.
Deletion and Your Choices
You can edit or delete animal and clutch records inside the app. Removing the app deletes its local private data, subject to any device backups controlled by your operating system. You can remove the OpenRouter API key in Settings and manage or delete your OpenRouter account data through OpenRouter.
Children
GeckoBreeding is a professional record-keeping tool and is not directed to children.
